What it does

A chlorine shower filter — and clear about what that means

Reduces free chlorine

Australian mains water is disinfected with chlorine so it arrives safe. In a hot shower some of that free chlorine leaves the water as vapour, which is why a hot shower can smell of chlorine when a cold tap doesn't. The SF002 cartridge reduces free chlorine before it reaches you — up to 98% in supplier testing.

Catches sediment

Older pipes and mains work can carry fine sediment and rust particles into your shower. The cartridge holds them back so they don't rinse through your shower.

Mineral media for water feel

Around 30% of the cartridge is mineral and tourmaline media. We present this as a water-feel feature only — not a health claim.

The honest bit

Australian tap water is world-class. A shower filter is a final refinement, not a purifier, and we'd rather you buy it for the right reasons.

Chloramine: some Australian supplies disinfect with chloramine instead of chlorine. This filter is less effective on chloramine, so check what your water authority uses.

Hard water: this is not a water softener. It doesn't change the mineral hardness of your water or stop limescale.

Evidence: the 98% figure comes from the supplier's testing. It is not an independent Australian laboratory result and not NSF/ANSI 177 certification. We don't make fluoride, PFAS, heavy-metal, bacteria, skin, hair or health claims.

Install

Fitted in about five minutes

  1. Unscrew your shower head from the wall arm by hand.
  2. Screw the AQVO filter onto the arm, then screw your shower head onto the filter. Hand-tight is enough.
  3. Run the shower for a minute to flush the new cartridge, and you're done. Swap cartridges the same way — no tools.

Needs about 16 cm of clearance below the arm. Rail-mounted or handheld shower? A swivel adaptor is available. Will it fit? Three quick checks on the product page.

Questions

Shower filter FAQ

Will it fit my shower?

If your shower head screws onto a wall arm with a standard ½-inch BSP thread — the Australian norm — yes. You need roughly 16 cm of space below the arm for the filter and head. For rail-mounted or handheld showers, a swivel adaptor lets the filter sit on the hose connection.

Do I keep my own shower head?

Yes. The AQVO filter is inline: it fits between the arm and your existing head. Nothing about your spray pattern or shower head changes.

Does it remove chloramine?

It is less effective on chloramine than on free chlorine. Most Australian metropolitan supplies use chlorine, but some use chloramine — your water authority's website will say which.

Does it soften hard water?

No. It's a chlorine and sediment filter, not a softener. It won't change water hardness or reduce limescale.

How long does a cartridge last?

The cartridge is rated to around 20,000 litres. For a typical household we recommend changing it about every three months, which is how the kits are sized. Replacement cartridges are $46.

Does it reduce water pressure?

The filter is rated for 100–450 kPa and 5–8 L/min, which covers normal Australian mains pressure. Any inline filter adds a little resistance; within that range it is designed to keep a normal shower flow.

I rent — is that a problem?

No. It screws on by hand, screws off by hand and leaves the plumbing exactly as it was.

What if it isn't for me?

You have 30 days to return it for a refund. Return postage applies unless the product is faulty. Shipping to you is free Australia-wide, dispatched from Melbourne.
