Compatibility
Will it fit? Three checks, 30 seconds
- Your tap has a standard spout with a removable aerator — the mesh tip that unscrews from the end of the spout.
- The spout end is 19.5–23.5 mm across. Six adapters are included to cover the common internal and external aerator threads on Australian kitchen taps.
- There's about 15 cm of clearance under the spout for the unit: 112 × 141 × 65 mm, about 520 g. It's a solid unit — noticeably larger than a tap aerator.
Won't suit: pull-out or pull-down spray taps, spouts with no removable aerator, and some square or designer spouts. Older taps occasionally need a different adapter — if the included set doesn't fit, email us before you give up on it. Not sure? Also at home in a caravan or motorhome. The tap filter works in vans and caravans connected to town water, or running a tank filled from a treated town supply, with a pump delivering at least 100 kPa and a standard round spout the adapters fit (19.5–23.5 mm). It doesn't make tank, bore or creek water safe to drink — it's a final refinement of already-treated water.

How the filtration works
Inside the composite cartridge
Activated-carbon rod + built-in scale inhibitor. Free-chlorine reduction: free chlorine reacts at the carbon surface and is reduced to chloride ions — this helps reduce chlorine taste and odour. Adsorption inside pores: certain dissolved organic molecules can attach to the large internal pore surface. Scale inhibition: designed to slow limescale build-up inside the filter — scale control ≠ water softening. Sediment: porous filters can retain particles larger than their flow passages; AQVO lists no tap micron rating. Water needs contact with the carbon surface, so follow the rated filtered flow of approximately 1.0 L/min.

Safe to drink isn't the same as tastes great
Australian tap water is treated and regulated to strict safety standards — chlorine is how it stays safe on the way to you. But that same chlorine is what you taste in a glass of water and smell in the kettle.
The chlorine edge
That slightly sharp, "swimming pool" note in a glass of tap water is residual chlorine. Reducing it at the tap makes water noticeably easier to drink.
Better brews start with water
Coffee is ~98% water. Chlorine flattens delicate flavours — which is why cafés filter their water before it goes anywhere near the machine.
Drink more, buy less plastic

The digital display is a helpful feature because I don’t have to guess when the cartridge needs attention. It looks premium on the kitchen tap, although it does take up a fair amount of space around the sink.
We use the tap filter mainly for drinking water and washing fruit and vegetables. It was easy to attach, and I like being able to see the temperature and filter-life display.
I noticed that the water tasted better after installing the filter. The unit is slightly larger than I expected, but it looks modern and feels sturdy.
Unfortunately, the supplied fitting didn’t connect directly to our older tap, so we needed a different adaptor. Once installed, it worked well
